4 REASONS TO EAT MORE AVOCADOS

Most people avoid eating avocados, especially if they are trying to loose weight.  Yet avocados are really nutritious foods that are packed with heart-healthy compounds, healthy fat and loads of fiber.

  1. Avocados are packed with carotenoids. Avocados are a great source of lutein, a carotenoid that works as an antioxidant and helps protect against eye disease.
  2. Avocados make you feel full. Half an avocado contains 3.4 grams of fibre, including soluble and insoluble, both of which your body needs to keep the digestive system running smoothly. Plus, soluble fibre slows the breakdown of carbohydrates in your body, helping you feel full for longer.

AVOIDING CONSTIPATION

Constipation is a common condition that affects people of all ages. It can mean that you are not passing stools regularly, or you are unable to completely empty your bowels.

  • Eat foods rich in fiber on a regular basis. This may include legumes, seeds, nuts, green leafy vegetables, sweet, potatoes etc.

  • Go for whole grain as opposed to refined carbohydrates. Instead of buying white bread, buy brown bread. Other foods like rice, pasta and wheat flour also have their whole grain versions. Whole grains have more fiber and more nutrients.
